The campaign transport will leave a brighter than normal area around the location it leaves the map.

To see this in action, start up alpha campaign and trigger the first video area. Then enter debug mode and type:

ascend sub-1-3s

and watch as the transport leaves a bright spot on the offworld mission.

Here are pictures of Alpha missions 1-3 and 1-4a. Probably the most clear is Beta-end which I have two pictures of and a save.

Edit:
Watching the transporter exit on the Beta save shows the visibility field moving after it has exited.
