If you mouse over that option, you should receive a tooltip explaining that the window (in windowed mode) can be resized as you normally would via your OS / window manager.

For example:

  • On Windows, click + hold on the corner of the window, and drag the window frame to the desired size (then release the mouse).
  • On macOS, click + hold on a corner / edge of the window, and drag the window frame to the desired size (then release the mouse).

If you are using a tiling window manager, you will need to configure it to appropriately size / tile the window.

Basically, the window is now "normally resizable" and, in windowed mode, that menu option is display-only - i.e. it displays the current resolution - (hence, greyed-out and displaying a tooltip when you mouse over).

The window can be resized by dragging a corner like a normal window.
