resolution_wontfix type_patch (an actual patch, not a request for one) | by i-NoD

When i create some topic i'am allowed to edit my posts only for some limited time and then they become permanent (for me as a regular user). This is not bad itself, but its frustrating me when i see how people tends to download an old version of smth from my thread (my mod for example) only because of big amount of pages in a tread (and i too don't want to parse some big threads) and my inability to refresh content of the first post as my mod evolves (to reflect mod changes). IMO it's a BAD practice (if not rude) to force people to attach their latest mods into their signature :-(
I do not see any reason for such a restriction at all. Of course it should be non-editable if a topic was locked.

If this setting is not changed, I suggest the following: Set up a simple HTML page that has a download link to the current mod and contains all the relevant information. A moderator would then (me, probably :P) just change the first post of your mod thread to point to the HTML page. Additionally, having external resources for the mod makes you independent from wz2100.net, so that you can release new versions or change stuff even if the site/forums is/are under maintenance.

This behaviour is designated. Edits aren't bumped as "new" so no one would notice if someone edits an very old topic or reply and insert some garbage or something else. To prevent this, edits are limited to one week.

If you need to edit a post after this time, just PM someone of our team who seems to be active in the forums right now. For the mod i suggest that you create a wiki page like http://developer.wz2100.net/wiki/mod/ and link to it in the first post. You can always change the wiki page.
