Last "stable" release 2.3.9 / (Unsupported! Try the Beta builds instead) / 2011-10-23
This is the last in this series, we will not provide support or any updates for this version.
| Windows Installer & Mac Downloads[1] | ~62 MB |
| Source code tarball | ~62 MB |
[1] The Windows installer will download the higher or standard or low quality or German video files if you choose that option when you run it. The Mac has three versions, novideo, LQvideo, and HQvideo.
Videos (all versions)
| sequences.wz (higher quality videos)[2] | ~945 MB |
| sequences.wz (standard quality videos) [2] | ~545 MB |
| sequences.wz (low quality videos)[2] | 169 MB |
[2] Place sequences.wz in <username> is your login name, <version> is the version of Warzone, e.g. "2.3" or "3.1".
- Windows XP and lower: C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\My Documents\Warzone 2100 <version>\
- Windows Vista and higher: C:\Users\<username>\Documents\Warzone 2100 <version>\
- Linux: ~/.warzone2100-<version> (~ is /home/<username>)
- Mac OS X: ~/Library/Application Support/Warzone 2100 <version>/ (~ is /Users/<username>)
The difference between them isn't that great, the source material is only 320x160, and the higher quality versions are upscaled, and filtered.
System requirements
Recommended minimum hardware:
- ~2 GHz CPU
- 128 MB graphics card with good OpenGL support (make sure you have the newest drivers installed)
- ~ 200 MB free RAM for the game
- ~ 100 MB HD space for the game, up to ~ 1100 MB extra for the large videos
Operating system - one of:
- Windows 2000 or higher
- Mac OS X 10.4 or higher
- Linux or BSD
You will most likely need the latest version of the drivers for your video card.
Note for Intel Graphics chipset people
Upgrade your video drivers or Warzone will crash. The fault is with Intel and their terrible video drivers.
Note for OS X
- You need X11 installed (should come by default since 10.5), which can be found on the install DVD .
- If you have a Nvidia based Mac on 10.5.6-10.5.9, there is a bug that makes the game look wrong. To fix, upgrade to 10.6 or higher, or use these custom Nvidia drivers.
Warzone on Linux
Warzone can be found in many Linux distributions' repositories, although the versions in most repositories are older than the ones found here. Warzone can also be built by downloading the source and using the standard Linux method of:
./configure && make
Then run the game with "src/warzone2100" from the source tree. For more detailed instructions see the LinuxCompileGuide.
