This page should give hints and tips on how to capture the look and feel of Warzone2100 in models, textures, and audio clips.

General

The game is set in a post-apocalyptic atmosphere. This means things are generally run-down, worn, massively reused and patched up, rather than polished and stylish. The landscape around bases has seen the destruction of massive nuclear warfare, and should in general be war-torn, destroyed, in disrepair, cratered, and started to be reclaimed by the wild.

Inspiration

The original Warzone was probably highly inspired by the movies Mad Max 2, Terminator and Terminator 2. So if you are looking for inspiration - go watch them! They are good movies :-)

Scavenger

Scavengers reuse and recycle left-overs from the old world, they do not use new technologies, rather using what they can find in the environment around them.

Iconic scavenger buildings

Notice how the scavengers have reused an old gas station as a workshop. Their colours are typically pastel and unusually brightly colourful for the game. Their equipment is generally things you would see constructed in a scrapheap, and composed of parts from modern day equipment and vehicles, such as buses, pick-up trucks etc.

Player

The player's units and buildings are futuristic but also primarily created with a military "good enough and practical" mindset. Keep in mind that many textures need to be in team colours to keep apart units and buildings belonging to different players. The following colours should therefore be used with care:

The Collective

The Collective are dull gray, in addition to their blue team colour.

Nexus

Nexus are black, stylish and no-nonsense.
